The Provincial Government of Bataan (PGB), led by Governor Joet Garcia, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with V-Green CEO Nguyen Thuy Linh last April 30, for the establishment of additional electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across the province as part of PGB’s efforts to promote green mobility and expand the use of electric vehicles.
Under the MOU, charging stations will be established in all 11 municipalities and in Balanga City, wherein PGB and local government units will provide the sites for the charging stations while V-Green will handle the needed infrastructure and equipment.
The project is expected to support the increasing number of EV users in the province, especially as fuel prices continue to rise. It also forms part of Bataan’s preparation for the planned the expansion of Libreng Sakay services using electric buses. Bataan has already started implementing Libreng Sakay in select areas and routes, giving residents access to free public transport services. Aside from the charging network, Gov. Garcia highlighted other EV-related initiatives, including the refleeting of government vehicles from internal combustion engine units to EVs.
As part of the activity, officials visited the Bataan Technological Park Inc. in Morong to discuss the possible establishment of an EV assembly plant. The project is expected to generate more jobs, attract investments, and further strengthen Bataan’s position as a hub for modern technology and clean energy. Governor Garcia said Bataan is ready to support the partnership by providing land, permits, manpower, and the political will needed to move the project forward.
Present during the activity were Congresswoman Gila Garcia, Morong Mayor Leila Linao-Munoz, Board Members Atty. Jomar Gaza and Jorge Estanislao, BCDA Executive Vice President Gisela Kalalo, VinFast Philippines Deputy CEO Abner Berdos, and other representatives from the government and the private sector.
