PILAR, Bataan – “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it”…. Proverbs 22:6.

As one enters the spacious campus of Bataan Christian School in this town, these are the words that you will see conspicuously posted on their bulletin board. This verse from the bible happens to be the mission statement of this school, coupled with their vision – as a Christian school who aims to develop youth who are God-fearing, intelligent, humane, environment-friendly to help build a productive nation. According to one of the founders of the school and the School Administrator, Mrs. Nenita Apolinario, they are confident that they will achieve their vision-mission for all their initiatives, programs and services are all grounded on their commitment to providing quality education, not to mention that they live out the following core values of love of God, excellence and servanthood.
With less than a hundred preschool students when it started operation in 1997, today BCS has more than 900 students and offers complete Preschool, Grade School and High School curriculum. In High School alone, they offer three curricula: Basic Education Curriculum (BEC) Open High School System and the Special Science Class. Mrs. Armida Fabregas, School Principal proudly added that BCS is the only private secondary school in Bataan who offers the Open High School System and the Special Science Class.
BCS Finance Officer, Mrs. Liberty Ravago said that in preparation for K-12 (implementation of Grades 11 & 12), the Bataan Christian School Board of Directors signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the leaders of Maritime Academy of Asia and the Pacific for partnership in coordination with the Department of Education – Division of Bataan and TESDA. In fact, this early, their new 2-storey building is nearing completion, ready to accommodate incoming Junior and Senior High School students in 2016.
Mrs. Alma Gorospe, their Guidance Counselor expressed her fulfillment over the exemplary behavior that BCS students continue to practice, vis-à-vis the numerous awards and citations they have been reaping in various academic and extra -curricular competitions locally and even nationwide. Recently, one of their alumnae, Donna Velasco represented the country in an international beauty pageant.
Indeed, Bataan Christian School is one school that adds to the many reasons why it’s really more fun in Bataan.
