Despite the challenges faced by the Freeport Area of Bataan during this time of pandemic, AFAB administrator Emmanuel Pineda said that they are optimistic to a better 2021 during the annual Year-end Kapihan with Media under the new normal yesterday, December 9.
“We are continuing on [kahit bumababa yung cases], and we’re acting like it’s still the height of the pandemic,” Engr. Pineda said as they enumerate the efforts of AFAB in responding accordingly to the threat of COVID-19 in workplaces.
To date, out of the 97 operational FAB registered enterprises, 87.63% are operating even with the imposition of Enhanced Community Quarantine early on.
With its mandate to create jobs for Bataeños, they are positive that FAB expansion areas in Abucay, Balanga, Dinalupihan, and Pilar will kickstart next year opening at least 3,000 jobs closer to the residents of said municipalities.
With the approved Republic Act 11453, “An Act Further Strengthening the Powers and Functions of the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB), Amending for this Purpose Republic Act No. 9728, otherwise known as the “Freeport Area of Bataan (FAB) Act Of 2009″, said expansion areas, with the approval of their local government units, are possible.
This will generate new jobs, stimulate the local economy and promote local development in the province.
