MARIVELES, Bataan – Rep. Joet S Garcia, 2nd district, has expressed optimism that more investors will invest here once the amendment to the law on AFAB (Authority of Freeport Area of Bataan) is approved.
Congressman Garcia said that one of the features of the existing AFAB law that he wants to amend is the inclusion of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the Philippine Ports Authority to be placed under AFAB, thereby fast tracking the services of the two national government agencies.
“If we have something to process or need in the DENR or PPA there is no need to go to the said offices just to secure their approval and other documents,” pointed out Rep Garcia.
Garcia’s proposal immediately got support from local government officials of this town who are bent on backing the proposed amendments on the Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) Law.
Mayor AJ Concepcion, Vice Mayor Lito Rubia and the councilors of this industrial town recently met Bataan 2nd District Rep. Garcia and AFAB representatives during a consultation meeting in Congress to show their support to the amendments of the said law.
To solicit more productive suggestions on how to further improve AFAB, Cong. Garcia called for the consultation meeting between Mariveles and AFAB officials regarding the amendments and discussed how to make it more attractive to investors.
The neophyte solon expressed optimism that amending the Freeport law is timely and will further boost development inside FAB and the town of Mariveles.
