Bagac greenlights site development plan for proposed tourist rest area

The Municipality of Bagac has formally approved the site development plan for a proposed Tourist Rest Area with Pasalubong Center to be built in Barangay Binukawan, following the signing of the plan on January 26, 2026, Mayor Ron Del Rosario announced.

The approval marks a key planning milestone for the tourism project, which is still in its pre-construction stage. The proposed facility will be funded through the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) in coordination with the Department of Tourism (DOT).

Once implemented, the project is expected to provide a dedicated rest stop for tourists while promoting local products and small enterprises in Bagac. Mayor Del Rosario said the land intended for the project was acquired using funds collected from environmental fees, emphasizing the proper and transparent use of public funds. The purchase reflects the local government’s commitment to reinvesting environmental fees into sustainable, community-oriented development.

The planned Tourist Rest Area with Pasalubong Center is envisioned to enhance visitor experience, strengthen local livelihoods, and support the continued growth of tourism in Bagac and the Province of Bataan. Local officials also thanked the Bagac Environmental Management Council and visiting tourists for their continued support, noting that environmental fees are being returned to the people through eco-friendly and development-focused programs.
