Balanga City launches “JOET Job Fair 2014”

   BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The City Government headed by Mayor Jose Enrique “Joet” Garcia III will hold a job fair dubbed as “Job Opportunity & Employment Thrust” (JOET next Friday, November 14, 2014 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bataan People’s Center.

   Mayor Garcia said it will be his treat for his constituents on his 43rd birthday on November 12, hence the theme: “Handog Kaarawan, Trabaho sa Bayan. Prior to the fair, the City Public Employment Service Office will conduct a Job Coaching Seminar on Thursday, November 13, 2014 from 1:00-5:00 p.m. also at the Bataan People’s Center.

   The seminar aims to inform the applicants about the latest available jobs that match their skills, education and training; how to make a good resume and the right attitude and proper decorum during job interviews.

   Meanwhile, Mayor Garcia and City Planning Officer Elsa Ilagan attended the 2014 Asia-Pacific Expert Symposium on Global Citizenship held last October 23 and 24, 2014 at the Marine Solar Park and Pullman Ambassador Hotel at Changwon, Republic of Korea.

   Global Citizenship is one of the three priorities of Global Education First Initiative (GEFI), launched in 2012 by UN Secretary-General, Ban Ki-Moon highlighting the value of education and mobilizing international support.

   It also aims to promote the participation and keen interest of individuals, local communities, enterprisers and government to achieve a common goal for sustainable development.

   Garcia told local reporters that the two-day symposium intends to deepen the understanding of the potential role of local governments, global enterprises and educators in advancing Global Citizenship and to share their successful initiatives and practices.

   Mayor Garcia was one of the speakers who gave a presentation on the role of local governments in fostering Global Citizenship Education focusing on the City’s university town vision and the different successful programs and initiatives undertaken and being implemented by the city that contribute to the four components of a university town.
