Balanga City mounted its first-ever Kahanga-Hackaton 2025, a two-day tech competition of creativity and collaboration. The event, held recently is in line with the vision of Mayor Raquel Garcia to make Balanga a fully developed Smart City.
Hackathon is a collaborative event or competition where participants usually students, innovators, or professionals work in teams to develop technology-based solutions like software, apps, or prototypes to address challenges within a limited time.
Day 1 showcased the hackathon proper, where teams of students and young professionals brainstormed solutions to real community needs.
On Day 2 the bar was raised with pitching. Mayor Garcia said, “This hackathon celebrates the spirit of innovation. Balanga folks are bold to think innovatively”. She said the city continues to bridge the digital divide through inclusive programs such as the Barangay Learning Hubs, that bring technology even to senior citizens.
The contest brought together Entry Level (students) and Professional Level participants who turned ideas into solutions.
