ABUCAY, Bataan -The Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Bataan has completed this year the 14 required trainings for agrarian cooperatives here. Agrarian reform cooperatives are those being assisted by DAR, and whose members are mostly agrarian reform beneficiaries. Cooperatives need to undergo 14 training packages based on Republic Act 9520 or the Philippine Cooperative Code of 2008.
DAR Bataan Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer Engr. Eric San Luis earlier pointed out that the cooperatives need to undergo all the trainings for them get a Certificate of Good Standing.
The agency conducted the remaining 10 trainings this year, in addition to the 4 training packages they provided last year to the agrarian cooperatives. “We provided the trainings for free in order for them to get the certificate. Other training facilitators are charging fees”, said Senior Agrarian Reform Program Officer Norma S. Evangelista.
Evangelista added that they also conducted Gender and Development (GAD) seminar for agrarian reform cooperatives here. She said every cooperative is mandated to create a GAD Committee in compliance to a memorandum circular issued by the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA).
DAR Bataan is the only DAR entity in the country accredited by the CDA to facilitate trainings for cooperatives. The agency is extending full support to agrarian reform cooperatives in the province.
