Extension projects and agricultural researches reviewed

ABUCAY, Bataan—The Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) through the university Extension Services Office held its 1st in-house review of university extension projects and agricultural researches cum business seminar for farmers and other stakeholders in the university campus here.

The Research and Extension Office headed by Dr. Hermogenes Paguia is under the Office of Mr. Rudy C. Flores, Vice President for Research, Extension, and Auxiliary Services. Dr. Greg Rodis is the president of BPSU.

The following papers on agricultural researches were presented: Assessment of Productivity Measures on Carabao Mango in Central Luzon; Evaluation of Blended Organic Acids and Organic Vinegar as Performance Enhancers and Control Against Salmonella sp. in Poultry; and Evaluation of Different Water and Soil Quality Parameters in Brackish Water Fishponds of BPSU-Orani.

The university extension and development projects for in-house review are Waste Management Practices in the Adopted Barangays of BPSU Dinalupihan; S & T Community Based Farm on Mango Production in Abucay/Balanga City; and Application of Coral Transplantation Technology to Improve Productivity of Coral Reef Resources for Responsible and Sustainable Fisheries/ Harness Potentials of Bagac.

Other extension projects are Philippine National Aqua-silvi Culture Program; Promotion of Research Results on Mushroom Culture in Bataan; Season Long FFS on Off-Season Tomato Production in Orani: A Technology Transfer Modality for Climate Change Adaptation and Sustainable; and Aerobic Rice Production System: Improving Productivity in Water Scarce areas of Central Luzon. Extension projects on education, health, social sciences, and technology are Implementation of Stress Management as an Extension Program of Bataan Peninsula State University – Orani Campus; Series of Seminars on Responsible Parenthood and Values Education as an Extension Program of Bataan Peninsula State University – Orani Campus; and Head Start Program in Dinalupihan.

Other extension projects are: An Intervention for Learning and Social Skills Development of Pre-Elem Children; Technical Assistance to Pedicab Driver in Dinalupihan; Fish Processing Skills Training for the Housewives of Fisher Folks in Bataan; Effectiveness of Skills Enhancement Training for Teachers in Bataan; and Building Hope Behind Bars: Effectiveness of Skills Program of BPSU at Bataan District Jail.

Other papers are: Tabang Bataan: A Civic Extension Program in the Coastal Barangays of Bagac; Computer Literacy Program for DepEd Teachers in Bataan; Instructional Leadership of College Instructors: Bases for Instructional Development; Sports Program for Physically and Mentally Challenged Children; 12 Summer Sports Clinic for Atletang Bataeño; and Commercialization of the Vertical Fed Biomass Cookstove.

The day before, farmers and other stakeholders underwent a fully packed business seminar.
