Ferry boats to start plying Bataan – Manila

PROVINCIAL CAPITOL, Bataan – At last, a ferry boat service will start to ply next month between Port of Orion and Roxas Blvd. in Manila.

In a meeting Tuesday with Gov. Abet S. Garcia, Gani Cabrera, Chief Executive Officer and President of Fahrenheit Co., Ltd. (FCL), a company stationed in nearby Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA), said that they are ready to serve Bataan and will start plying their Ferry boats come February.

“Our ferry boats are faster and more durable compared to others,” Cabrera told the governor.
He added that they will initially deploy two Ferry boats that will be stationed in Port of Orion and in Roxas Blvd to cater regularly commuters from the province and vice versa. “We are targeting to start before the end of February. Actually, we already have tug boats and rubber boats stationed in Port of Orion,” said Cabrera.

Travel time from Orion to Manila will take only 45 minutes, making Bataan nearer to Metro Manila, Pasay City and Makati area.

The Port of Orion had been rehabilitated with spacious and concreted parking area, a uniquely designed transparent office, initiated through the efforts of then congressman, now governor Abet Garcia and the Philippine Ports Authority.

Numerous ferry boat companies had plied this route (Orion-Roxas Blvd. via Manila Bay) before, but expensive transportation fee prevented other passengers from taking it. It is believed that the ferry boat service will be patronized by the riding public, considering the big volume of passengers commuting daily from Manila to Bataan, if it lowers its fare
