Thirty-four families victimized by fire a month ago in Samal town received sari-sari store packages from DTI Bataan on Monday.
“Each family received a sari-sari store package worth P10,000”, said DTI Provincial Director Nelin Cabahug during a simple ceremony held at the covered court of Brgy. East Calaguiman, Samal.
“We hope the assistance will help them in little way to start anew”, she said.
The assistance was funded from Senator Bong Go’s “Pangkabuhayan sa Pagbangon at Ginhawa” program.
The houses of the victims were gutted by fire hence most of them are temporarily staying in the barangay facility while some with their relatives in the area.
Gov. Abet Garcia and Samal local government have been providing assistance to the victims; new houses are currently being constructed for them.
