GGGI to support carbon neutral Bataan

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Governor Abet Garcia, in envisioning a more resilient carbon neutral province through replacing typical paradigm based on industrial developments, welcomes the proposal of the Global Green Growth Institute (GGGI) to include the province of Bataan, to be one of the only 4 provinces in the Philippines to be adopted by GGGI in their project of promoting balance economic growth and environmental sustainability.

Global Green Growth Institute, a treaty-based international organization headquartered in Seoul, Republic of Korea thru, Ms. Maripaz Perez, a Bataeña in her own right, formerly an ASEC of the DOST and currently Regional Director for Asia and Country Manager for the Philippines of WorldFish, met with Provincial Agriculturist, Ms. Imelda Inieto, regarding the inclusion of Bataan in the GGGI project.

Ms. Perez presented the proposal to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, which was immediately and unanimously approved.

Global Green Growth Institute provides its stakeholders an initial fund of $200,000 for their investment portfolio and could be higher, depending on their proposal and will train the staff that will compose the management team, on research and engagement on its 4 priority areas considered to be essential in transforming the economy including energy, water, land use and green cities.

Provincial Agriculturist Imelda Inieto said she will have to meet all the Mayors to explain the proposal in full as this will include the whole province of Bataan with all the officers concerned like the municipal agriculturists, MPDOs, budget officers and others.

Governor Abet is giving his all-out support in this project, which as we all know, is his desire, to make Bataan the first carbon neutral province in the country.
