As Chairman of the 16th Regional Development Council, Governor Albert Garcia delivered the State of the Region Address during the 3rd Full Council Meeting attended by local government officials from Central Luzon, heads of national agencies in the region and stakeholders from the public and private sectors held at The Bunker Building, yesterday, January 22.
Highlighted in his report is the remarkable infrastructure development in the region where 12 of the 100 infrastructure flagship projects of the national government are located in Central Luzon.
Notable among the on-going projects are:
*Central Luzon Link Expressway (CLLEX) a 30km – four lane expressway from Tarlac City to Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija,
*Philippine National Railways’ (PNR) North 1 Project, a 38 km mass transportation that will connect Malolos, Bulacan with NCR,
*PNR North 2, a 69.5 km mass transportation that will extend PNR North 1, connecting Clark and New Clark City, thereby enabling a one-way travel time of 56 minutes between Manila and Clark International Airport.
*The 32. 15 km Bataan Cavite Interlink Bridge, said to be the longest coastal bridge in the country will connect Mariveles, Bataan to Corregidor and Cavite and is seen to shorten the 6 hour one-way travel time from 6 hours to 45 minutes.
Of the 12 infrastructure projects located in Central Luzon, 8 shall be built under the Official Development Assistance (ODA) and 4 under the Public-Private Partnership scheme.
