MARIVELES, Bataan- As part of the national government’s program “Handog Titulo” for the landless Filipinos, the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) here led by Raul Mamac and Mayor Jesse Concepcion distributed over the weekend land titles in barangay Poblacion, this town.
Mamac, who personally supervised the land title distribution, said that a total of 74 families have been given original land titles and more land titles will be given as soon as their documentation is completed. This is the second time, Mamac pointed out, that the PENRO is distributing land titles to the people in this town.
He added that this is in compliance with the directives of DENR Secretary Ramon Paje and Central Luzon Regional Director Francisco Milla, Jr., to fast-track not only the national greening program of the department but also the Handog Titulo program for the poor people in the country.
Mamac said that these distributed lands were originally public lands that have been occupied by the recipients and that more titles will be given to the people. “Now that they (beneficiaries) already have their land titles, they can now also pay their real property taxes to the government and this is an additional income to our coffers,” said Mamac.
