BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Last Wednesday, February 7, the local government unit of Hermosa conducted an “Orientation on Katarungang Pambarangay” at the Hermosa Elementary School Conference Room.

Hermosa Mayor Jopet Inton said its specific objective is to increase the degree of proficiency of the participants in the dispensation of quality justice “by improving their knowledge on the importance and role of the barangay justice system or the Katarungang Pambarangay.

This orientation will increase their knowledge on the essential features of the Katarungang Pambarangay,” Inton told the local press.

He added that it will thereby enhance their mediation and conciliation skills in handling and attending to their duties in their barangays or villages.

The training was attended by Punong Barangays, Lupong Tagapamayapa Members from the municipality’s 23 barangays, and DILG Officers led by Hermosa Association of Barangay Councils (ABC) President Alexander Jason Enriquez.

The Katarungang Pambarangay (KP) or Barangay Justice System (BJS) is an alternative, community-based mechanism for dispute resolution of conflicts between members of the same community.
