Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in Orani experienced a meaningful day of compassion and empowerment as Bataan First District Representative Atty. Tony Roman III led the Karapatan Caravan, an outreach program promoting human rights, dignity, and rehabilitation.
The initiative, held at the Bataan District Jail, aimed to ensure that PDLs are not forgotten and continue to be treated with respect and understanding despite their circumstances. The activity provided access to legal assistance, counseling, and various support services that reaffirm the government’s commitment to uphold justice with compassion.
Rep. Roman underscored that the program is a reminder that every person, regardless of their past, has the right to be heard, respected, and given the chance to start anew. He emphasized that behind every case is a human being deserving of dignity and hope.
The Karapatan Caravan also served as a venue for community collaboration, bringing together local government units, law professionals, and volunteers who shared the same advocacy of protecting the rights of detainees and helping them reintegrate into society.
Through initiatives like the Karapatan Caravan, Rep. Roman continues his “Serbisyong May Puso” commitment—delivering programs that blend compassion with justice, and ensuring that the rights and welfare of all, including those behind bars, are upheld with fairness and humanity.
