Minimal damage in Bataan attributed to organized planning, rescue preparation

Minimal damage to properties and zero casualty could be attributed to well-organized planning, forced evacuation of residents in high-risk coastal areas and flood-prone villages in Bataan.

Bataan Gov. Joet Garcia was lauded by local residents for his quick move, promptly mobilizing the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council throughout the province’s 11 municipalities and lone city in anticipation of Super Typhoon “Uwan.”

Gov. Garcia made a round of flood-prone Barangay Almacen in Hermosa to see to it that things are ready for rescue operation and distribution of relief packs.

In Mariveles, Mayor Ace Jello Concepcion along with barangay officials and staff of MDRRMO visited villages where fishermen live to find out how they would respond to the upcoming super typhoon.

In Bagac, touted as a tourism hub for hosting tourism related facilities, was considerably hit by strong winds. Mayor Ron del Rosario supervised the clearing operations of a remote village where huge trees were uprooted by the wrath of “Uwan.”

Neophyte Mayor Erik Martel of Abucay made a round of slightly flooded barangays including an outskirt sub-village (sitio) where a small house was destroyed by strong wind.

Another greenhorn town executive, Jon Arizapa of Orani, promptly mobilized his barangay officials and MDRRMO to rescue affected residents and deliver the much-needed food packs.
