The Mariveles Mental Wellness and General Hospital (MMWGH) now offers the Outpatient Benefits Package for Mental Health after entering into a contract with PhilHealth held in a ceremony yesterday at the said hospital.

MMWGH Medical Center Chief Dr. Dennis Dayao Ordona sees this milestone as a significant step forward, as it will help Bataeños who are struggling with mental health conditions such as depression, psychosis, epilepsy, child and adolescent mental and behavioral disorders, among others.

PhilHealth Region III Acting Branch Manager Dr. Rowena Zabat San Mateo revealed that MMWGH is the second healthcare facility in the country, after the National Center for Mental Health, and the first in Central Luzon to offer this benefit. It aims to improve health outcomes, as well as the quality of life and productivity of Filipinos with mental health conditions as mandated by the Universal Healthcare Law.

The benefit consists of two packages: for general mental health services amounting to PHP9,000 per person annually and specialty mental health services amounting to PHP16,000 per person annually. Outpatients eligible for the packages are 10-year-old and older individuals with psychiatric cases or any age with neurological cases.
