This young lady councilor of Orani, Bataan has all the qualities of a public servant who cares for her constituents using her own initiatives and resources.
Councilwoman Abba Sicat, wife of former Orani councilor Rome Sicat, has been playing an important role in facilitating requests for assistance – from hospitalization and other medical needs, to school gadgets and yes, even the establishment of multi-purpose evacuation center funded by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).
Ms. Sicat, chairperson of tourism and trade and industry at the Sabgguniang Bayan of Orani, had been facilitating requests from various sectors for financial assistance. She even offers her assistance to Bataan Gov. Albert Garcia in case the provincial government needs some financial assistance from a government corporation like the PAGCOR.
Sicat who took up finance course in college admitted though that the task is also taxing in terms of effort and money. “Nakakapagod din kasi pupuntahan mo mga government agencies but the effort is indeed rewarding,” she explained. Lately, she asked for financial grant from PAGCOR to finance the purchase of computers for a public school in Orani. “Dahil sa sobrang dami nga ng requests ko baka next year na tayo mapagbigyan,” she said.
Just before the onset of pandemic, she was holding series of medical missions and facilitating requests from a group of women who want to undergo ultrasound and pap smear. Nahinto tayo dahil sa pandemic. Pero hinahanap ng katawan namin ang pagtulong talaga,” Sicat explains.
