PENELCO’s Solar Spark program lights up Mariveles streets

Several communities in Mariveles received a brighter boost on Thursday, March 12, as the Peninsula Electric Cooperative (PENELCO) distributed solar-powered street lights under its “TUGON – Solar Spark” program during Batch 10 of the initiative held at the Municipal Hall.

The distribution was led by PENELCO Director Cecilia Bacsa alongside Mariveles Mayor Atty. Ace Jello “AJ” Concepcion, highlighting the continued partnership between the electric cooperative and the local government to improve safety and convenience in communities through better street lighting. The project was carried out in collaboration with GN Power and GNPower Mariveles Energy Center Ltd. Co. (GMEC) as part of PENELCO’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.

Alongside the turnover, PENELCO also conducted an Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) campaign to guide beneficiaries on the proper use and maintenance of the solar street lights to ensure their long-term service. The initiative was supported by the cooperative’s Institutional Services and Development Department (ISDD), reinforcing efforts to bring sustainable lighting solutions and safer streets to local communities.
