President Marcos observes Zero Balance Billing implementation at BGHMC

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. visited the Bataan General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, to personally observe the implementation of his administration’s flagship program on Zero Balance Billing in state-run hospitals.

During his visit, the President saw actual billing statements of admitted patients, confirming that they incurred no outstanding balances. The initiative, as emphasized by Marcos in his last State of the Nation Address (SONA), is being enforced across all Department of Health (DOH) hospitals to ease the financial burden of Filipinos seeking medical care.

Hospital staff and patients warmly welcomed the Chief Executive, expressing gratitude for the program that brings significant relief especially during health emergencies. The BGHMC community also recognized the initiative as a vital step towards accessible and equitable health care for all.

The President also toured various facilities of the hospital, including the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Unit, Laboratory, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Department, and the Geriatric Ward, to assess their capacity in delivering quality health services.

Joining President Marcos were Governor Joet Garcia, DOH Secretary Dr. Ted Herbosa, DILG Assistant Secretary for Community Participation Elizabeth Lopez De Leon, Congressman Abet Garcia, DOH Region 3 Regional Director Dr. Corazon Flores, and BGHMC Medical Center Chief Dr. Glory Baltazar. Together, they led the inspection and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthen public health institutions.

The Provincial Government of Bataan (PGB) expressed its gratitude to the President, noting that the program provides not only immediate financial relief but also long-term assurance of quality and inclusive health care for every Filipino, particularly the Bataeños.
