CITY of BALANGA, Bataan -The Municipal Civil Registry Office of Samal placed 2nd, Outstanding Local Civil Registry Office – Extra Small Category for the year 2015 awarded by the National Statistician and Civil Registrar General Lisa Grace S. Bersales, Philippine Statistics Authority during the 8th National Workshop on Civil Registration (8NWCR) held at the Iloilo Convention Center, Iloilo City on August 23-25, 2016.
Samal Municipal Civil Registrar Josefina E. Cortez personally received the award during the awarding rites on August 24, 2016. A day earlier, MCR Cortez was also recognized as 3rd Outstanding Local Civil Registry Office – Extra Small Category for the year 2014.
Being a consistent top placer, garnering the 1st and 5th place awards in 2013 and 2012 respectively, MCR Cortez promises to continue the quality of public service she has delivered in
the past years.
The 8NWCR which is a biennial activity of PSA was designed for stakeholders on civil registration and vital statistics (CRVS), the City/Municipal Registrars and staff, towards an improved delivery of public service. This event included awarding of ten outstanding local civil registry offices in 5 categories – Extra Large, Large, Medium, Small and Extra Small for the year 2014 and 2015 among the more than 1500 municipalities in the Philippines.
The Municipality of Samal bested more than 600 civil registry offices in the country in its category. Regional Director Edgardo G. Pare, PSA Region III, who was also present during the event, received the awards in behalf of the other top ten placers in the province.
The City of Balanga, Bataan placed 2nd and 4th in Extra Large Category for 2015 and 2014 respectively while the Municipality of Bagac got the 9th place in Extra Small Category in 2015 and 2014. The Municipality of Limay placed 4th in Small Category. Municipal/City Civil Registars Marilyn C. Cruz of Balanga, Mylin B. Ricardo of Bagac and Analiza Gultiano of Limay were not present during the awarding at 8NWCR.
This year’s theme is “Makiisa… Makisali sa Dekadang CRVS”.
PSA carries out, enforce and administer civil registration functions in the country as provided for in Act 3753, while local civil registry offices file, keep and preserve civil registry records as per archival system mandated by the Local Government Code. At the provincial level, most of the civil registry activities of the local civil registry offices are in coordination with PSA- Bataan Provincial Office.
