BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Samal town float with the theme, “Kapistahan
Festival” adorned and embellished with capiz became the sole winner in the
First Parade of Festivals, a colorful activity at the 262nd Foundation Day Celebration of the Province held last January 11.
The Parade of Festivals, participated in by the different municipalities: Dinalupihan – “Tubig Festival”; Morong – “Pawikan Festival”, Abucay – “Abung Kinaykay Festival”, City of Balanga – “Ibong Dayo Festival”, Pilar – Kasinagan Festival”, Mariveles – “Kabuhayan Festival”, Orani – “Alimango and Sugpo Festival and Samal – “Kapistahan Festival ” captivated the heart of the judges. All the floats were accompanied by their respective street dancers in their colorful costumes.
The parade started at 8:00am at the Enrique Garcia Sr. Avenue (EGSA) as their assembly point before proceeding to the main thoroughfares of Balanga City ending at the Capitol Compound where a short program ensued and the performances of the different groups of street dancers.
According to Ms. Amelita Canare, OIC-Provincial Tourism Office, part of the activity of the 262nd Founding Day Celebration of the Province is to promote the products of the different municipalities, as well as the resources abundant in the municipality, legend or short stories and other popular activities which should be depicted in the design of the float.
Samal town with its capis products was a standout that impressed the judges. Samal won a cash prize of 30k pesos.
