The Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) held a public hearing at the Subic Bay Yacht Club to present proposed rules on the admission of non-hazardous materials inside the Freeport Zone. The event gathered SBMA officials and locators to discuss measures that aim to improve regulation and compliance.
Rossell Abuyo, OIC Manager of the SBMA Ecology Center, outlined the Proposed Guidelines, Implementing Procedures, Liquidation Reports, and Basis of Fines and Penalties. The presentation emphasized the importance of stricter monitoring while supporting sustainable operations within the Freeport.
Among the panel were Amethya P. Dela Llana, SBMA OIC Senior Deputy Administrator for Regulatory and OIC Deputy Administrator for Public Health and Safety, and Atty. Rein Justin F. Nantes, Hearing Officer from the SBMA Legal Department. They stressed the need to balance environmental safeguards with business growth in the Freeport Zone.
