The ASEAN Business Awards was established by the ASEAN Business Advisory Council to recognize companies and individuals in the region that have contributed to the overall growth of the ASEAN economy. The local ASEAN Business Advisory Council is composed of Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. Chairman Manual V. Pangilinan, SM Investments Corp. Vice Chairperson Teresita Sy-Coson, and Interior Basic Export Corp. President Jay Yuvallos.
President Benigno S. Aquino III was the guest speaker of the awarding event held at New World Hotel, Makati City. This year’s winner in the Large Enterprise category is listed port operator International Container Terminal Services, Inc. (ICTSI), which received the award for corporate excellence.
Pointwest Technologies, on the other hand, won the Innovation Award for its consistent setting of new benchmarks for its industry. Named as the winner for ASEAN Centricity category is Golden ABC, recognized as a model for other local firms aiming to enter into the integrated ASEAN market, while Fountainhead Technologies, Inc. won the Best Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) Award. Sandra Sanchez-Montano, vice president for international affairs of Community Health Education Emergency Rescue Services Corp.,won Woman Leader Award.
Tibig and the other local winners will represent the country in Myanmar this coming November joining the winners of other Asean countries. He is known in the business and entrepreneurship world as the “The Entrep Champ”. He is recognized as one of the best entrepreneurship mentor in the country, and authored the best-selling book “Strategies of a Champion Entrepreneur”. He is former president of the Association of the Filipino Franchisers of the Philippines Incorporated. He was also president of the Bataan Chamber of Commerce and Industry Incorporated.
