BALANGA CITY, Bataan – As Chairman of the Committee on Education at the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, Board Member Rey Ibe takes pride in assuring that the needs of our 700 student-athletes are provided to make them physically and emotionally ready to compete in the upcoming Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association (CLRAA) come February 2018.
Board Member Ibe noted that Bataan remains in rank 3 in the overall tally of medals in different events for 3 consecutive years now. Being a former athlete himself, Ibe observed and studied different angles of the sports competition and noted that one of the factors that affect the performance of our athletes is the quality of sports equipment and supplies that they use thus, he has recommended to increase the budget allocation for the purchase of quality sports supplies and equipment.
During the meeting of the Bataan Sports Council chaired by Governor Abet Garcia, BM Ibe’s recommendation was approved thru the Special Education Fund (SEF). He said that there is a need to improve our sports facilities, thus P50M was allocated for a rubberized quadrangle for the Dinalupihan Sports Complex and P40M for the Orani quadrangle. BM Ibe added that our athletes will be trained longer, not just months prior to the competition.
The CLRAA includes different sports events such as archery, badminton, baseball, basketball, gymnastics, table tennis, swimming which not only improve the physical and mental abilities of the students but also instill in them the values of discipline, sportsmanship and excellence.
The Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association is composed of all the provincial governors of Aurora, Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Tarlac, Pampanga and Zambales, the city mayors of the 12 cities and chaired by the DepEd Regional Director.
