75th Araw ng Kagitingan activities uncovered

CITY of BALANGA, Bataan – The Provincial Government of Bataan (PGB) through the Provincial Tourism Office (PTO) led the 75th Araw ng Kagitingan press conference yesterday, March 27 at the Provincial Governor’s Office (PGO) conference room, this City.

Presided by Provincial Tourism Officer Arch. Christina Banzon Enriquez, Atty. Anne Inton of Hermosa discussed in full details the schedule of activities from April 2 to 10. Atty. Inton, the wife of Hermosa Mayor, Jopet Inton represents the Bataan Peninsula Tourism Council Foundation Inc. Other key personalities present were Danica Tigas of PTO, Miss Bataan 1st runner-up and Ambassadress of Investments and Industries Charlene Versoza, Lino Obana of Bataan Hotels and Restaurants Owners Association (BHROA), Romeo Layug of the Department of Education (DepEd Bataan), Azucena Sugatain of the Provincial Cooperative and Enterprise Development  Office (PCEDO), Nora Reclosado of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), May Ferna of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), and representatives of the different media organizations in the region.

Slightly going off the agenda, but still with regards to tourism which is continuously improving in the province, certain questions were fielded on the floor during the open forum such as the most visited tourist spots in the province, to which Ms. Danica Tigas mentioned that in day tours, Mt. Samat, Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar, Sibul Hot Spring and COB Wetland & Nature Park topped the list. On the other hand, the frequently visited tourist destinations during nighttime are Camaya Coast, beach resorts in Morong, Balanga, and Bagac. As to the number of tourists who visit Bataan, there are about 332,000 tourist arrivals who stay overnight and 639,000 who visit for day tour.

For the most number of beaches, Mariane De Leon of the municipality of Morong was present to discuss that there are a total of 106 beaches in Morong and that 58 of those have permits. Presently, they have a campaign to convince beach owners to comply with their requirements so that their resorts will be more suitable and enjoyable for the public.

Finally, Arch. Enriquez capped off the press conference by concluding that as we celebrate the Araw ng Kagitingan in its 75th year, they made sure that they’ve come up with more activities than before so that Bataeños and other guests can have a wide range of activities to choose from to attend to, and that all of us will be able to commemorate and understand completely why we celebrate the Araw ng Kagitingan.
