OWD implements sustainable reforestation program

ORANI, Bataan -The Orani Water District (OWD) is implementing a sustainable reforestation program in the upland Barangay Tala watershed area.

“We will be conducting our 6^th year annual planting activity on August 12”, said OWD General Manager Benni Andres. “Yearly we are planting 10,000 tibig specie seedlings”.

“By the end of this year, we will have 60,000 trees planted in Tala watershed”, the general manager further said.

In celebrating its anniversary every February for the past 6 years, OWD has been sponsoring fun run for a cause to raise fund for the reforestation program.

“We have to protect and preserve our source of water by reforesting watershed areas,” Andres pointed out.

The reforestation program of OWD covering 28 hectares watershed area, which is part of Bataan National Park, has been attracting the support of volunteers from various sectors.
