Metro Manila-based developers to take part in housing program in Bataan

BALANGA CITY, Bataan A member of the province’s Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) is highly-optimistic that prominent Metro Manila and Central Luzon land developers and commercial leasing firms are expected to take part in the profitable housing ventures in the historic peninsula.

Provincial Board Member Rolando Z. Tigas, chair of Housing and Land Utilization Committee, has observed that the great potential in housing demand has motivated several land developers to establish their footprints in the local market, both in commercial and residential leasing particularly on leisure and lifestyle oriented projects.

Tigas, a two-termer municipal mayor of Samal in the province’s first district and  respected building contractor in Central Luzon, said  several big corporations engaged in power generation, high-end fashion style  shoes, handbags and other accessories, motor spare parts, food, textile and other export manufacturing firms are investing  in the province’s economic and tourism enterprise zones.

According to the outspoken board member, the imminent operations of labor-intensive multi-national manufacturing firms would contribute   large volume of socio-economic benefits to the residents and migrant workers from other provinces, however, on the other side, this development would create big shortage of housing facilities preferably in the two Southern Bataan towns of Mariveles and Limay .

The increasing urbanization is the key factor for the province to broaden growth and further improve its housing facilities and basic services to accommodate thousands of industrial workers due to the rapid industrialization of ecozones in Bataan, Tigas added.
