CAPITOL COMPOUND – In accordance with Executive Order No. 24 Series of 2017, an order creating the Bataan Provincial Youth Council, the first organizational meeting was held this morning, July 11, 2017, at the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) conference room, Capitol compound, this city.
Present in the first meeting were representatives from PSWDO, DILG, DepEd Bataan District Office, DTI, DOLE, BPSU, PHO, PESO, PIA, Red Cross Bataan, Bataan Tourism Office, Iskolar ng Bataan, Legal Office, PIO, PDRRMO, POPCOM, PG-ENRO, PYAP, CSO, and TESDA, which makes them the members of the council together with the co-chairperson and secretariat Ms. Marilyn Tigas and chairperson Gov. Abet Garcia.
In order to recognize the vital role of the youth in nation building and promote and protect their physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual, and social well-being, these following objectives are to be observed: (1) to develop the youth’s full potential as partner in nation building, (2) to encourage active participation of the youth in all programs and projects of the province, (3) to access youth in social welfare and development programs and services, (4) to increase the spirit of volunteerism among the youth, and (5) to provide information in the field of education, employment, livelihood, health, capacity building and networking.
Ms. Tigas, as she led the meeting, said that it’s about time that the programs and services of the government will give more focus to the youth of the province. That is why the different agencies and organizations that were present shared what they have to offer for the youth, and altogether help them and bring out the best in them.
One important agenda of the meeting was the planning of activities for the youth. Ms. Tigas discussed their proposal and later on opened the floor for additional and possible events and activities. Here is the proposed plan of activities: AUGUST – Provincial Forum cum International Youth Day Celebration, SEPTEMBER – Coastal Clean Up and Tree Planting, and Tourism Month, OCTOBER – Leadership Seminar, NOVEMBER – PAFLO (Population Awareness & Family Life Orientation), and Pawikan Festival, DECEMBER – Year-End General Assembly.
