BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The Bataan Parole and Probation Office (BPPO) recently conducted a livelihood skills training activity for one hundred four (104) clients during its 41st Parole and Probation Administration (PPA) Founding Anniversary held at the Bataan People’s Center, Capitol Compound, this City last July 24.

Chief Probation and Parole Officer (CPPO) Maria Victoria A. Badoy in her opening message cheerfully welcomed the clients, Volunteer Probation Assistants (VPAs) and Guest who gave time to grace the culminating program of Bataan PPO for the PPA’s 41st Anniversary Celebration.

As the theme of Anniversary is “Bridging Lives, Empowering and Creating Myriads of Hope for a Stronger and Drug Free Nation“, she once again reminded the clients to prioritize and substantiate the second chance granted to them thru probation and parole and never lose hope as it is the only thing they could hold on to in the midst of life’s difficulties and trials; that our beloved agency, Parole and Probation Administration never stops to formulate programs to be able to help them achieve success in their reformation process and reintegration in the society.

Before the training proper VPAs Ignacio Montero, Ma. Lilian Joy Nazareno, Nelson Lacson, Catalino Macalatan and former Probation Officer Richard L. Salaya who graced the occasion, also gave their inspiring messages to the clients.

Abucay Municipal Councilor, Jayson M. Marcelo was the resource person for the skills training in making liquid detergent, dishwashing liquid, fabric conditioner and chlorox. “We provide the training so everyone can learn new skills that can be an alternative source of income or for additional earning for the family,” said Councilor Marcelo.

Apart from livelihood trainings, BPPO also launched the FITFIL weight loss challenge and a demonstration of the four (4) minute workout created by fitness coach Jim Saret of “The Biggest Loser: Pinoy Edition. This workout which involves jumping jacks, squats, push-ups and lunges will burn 600 calories in four minutes – guaranteed, according to Mr. Jim Saret. BPPO officers and staff, VPAs, OJTs and clients tried the workout.

Since July has been declared as Disaster Preparedness Month, BPPO took this opportunity to remind its clients to always be ready and resilient if and when a disaster occurs. A simple forum was also held for the clients facilitated by the BPPO Officers, with the help of Richard L. Salaya who is also an army reservist. They shared techniques that can be done during calamities.

BPPO extends its gratitude to everyone who gave their time in celebrating the 41st PPA Anniversary especially to Gov. Albert T. Garcia for allowing the use of the Bataan People’s Center.
