DPWH allots P 20 million for infrastructure project in Bataan

DINALUPIHAN, Bataan – The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has earmarked P 20 million for the improvement of the three-kilometer tributary from Layac to Almacen River in this town.

Rolando S. Rojas, municipal administrator, explained the rehabilitation scheme is primarily intended to protect the vital water channel from soil erosion  and  to ensure the process of insuring the smooth flow of flood waters to Almacen river connected to Manila Bay.

He said Dinalupihan Mayor Maria Angela S. Garcia and Bataan Governor Albert Raymond S. Garcia have formally sought the technical and budgeting preparations of the project at the DPWH Central Office in Manila to speed up the improvement of the canal which serves as protective trench during heavy downpour and as method of protecting hundreds of farm lands from dangerous floodwaters affecting farmers, households and commuters.

Meanwhile, Rojas added that the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) has allocated P 3 million for the improvement of irrigation canal in this town.

The project would hasten the movement of irrigation waters to several hundreds of hectares of farms located in the upper section of the town.
