BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Hardwork, giving your best foot forward as well as focusing on good performance paid off for the new MIMAROPA DPWH Regional Director Wilfredo “Willy” Mallari, who now earned the title as the First Bataeño to hold such a position. He assumed this position recently vacated by retired outgoing RD Danilo Dequito.
MIMAROPA, also known as Region IV-B, is a region of the Philippines located in Luzon. The name is an acronym that stands for the provinces, comprising the region, namely: Occidental Mindoro, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, and Palawan. There are only two cities in the entire region: Calapan City and Puerto Princesa.
Wilfredo Mallari, or simply Will or Fred to his friends and family, is a graduate of civil engineering at Adamson University, who worked part time at the DPWH to support his studies.
Mallari, according to his colleagues in the government service, really rose from the ranks, starting for a few years as a regular employee until he became the District Engineer for 14 years in Bataan, then his second assignment in Las Pinas, Muntinlupa also as a District Engineer for three (3) years and one (1) year as Assistant Regional Director prior to his promotion as the Regional Director for MIMAROPA.
The new Regional Director bows to abide by the vision of President Duterte on his “Build, Build, Build” program, noting to seek consultation with the Regional Development Council for more meaningful projects that will propel progress in the different provinces of MIMAROPA.
