NGCP bares energy-saving tips

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – With the onset of summer, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) has bared energy-saving tips for household consumers.
“Turn off light in part of the houses when no one is present. And of course we can save energy by reducing the amount of use of any appliances”, said NGCP Regional Corporate Communication Officer Fely Francisco in an interview here during a visit.
“Make sure to schedule ironing of clothes just once a week and in the morning when it is cooler”, she also advised.
“More electricity is being consumed if ironing is done daily since the amount of heat generated by the iron is not maximized, unlike when ironing in big batches of clothes”, she explained.
“And do the ironing during off-peak electricity hours that is before 9am or after 5pm”, she said.
“Use LED bulb which is energy-efficient instead of incandescent bulb”, Francisco also said.
She explained the electricity used over the lifetime of a single incandescent bulb costs 5 to 10 times the original purchase price of the bulb itself.
