New Hermosa Market Code OK’d

HERMOSA, Bataan – The municipal government of Hermosa has passed an ordinance creating the “New Hermosa Public Market and Trade Center Code of 2019.” The ordinance introduced by Councilor Jenna Marie S. Basi seeks to formulate a new market code for the fast-growing Hermosa town.
Since the old market code was enacted in 2008 and its amendment was introduced in 2009, it is only proper that a new market code must be enacted by the municipal government “in order to reflect the current executive-legislative policy of inclusive economic development as well as the rates of inflation during the past years up to the present, the municipal council said in its explanatory note.
Atty. Joseph Mario Sabado, secretary to the Sangguniang Bayan, said the bill seeks to consolidate the past enactments, introduce some timely provisions, and update the appurtenant taxes, fees and charges of the new public market.
He said the New Public Market Code shall be strictly implemented after a public hearing and appropriate information dissemination including its publication in a newspaper of general circulation in Bataan province.
One of the salient features of the Code is its adherence to basic policies and regulations on cleanliness and sanitation which provides that “the public market must at all times be kept clean and in sanitary condition to safeguard the health and safety of the buying public and the stall owners and market personnel.”
