BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Bataan District Jail Warden Jail Superintendent Andrew Tauli commended the leadership of Bataan Peninsula State University (BPSU) Pres. Dr. Greg Rodis.
“Earlier, an evaluation team for BPSU Pres. Rodis came to my office, and I told them he is a very good leader”, Tauli told this writer on Monday.
“BPSU has an existing program Hope Behind Bar that has already trained many persons deprived of liberty with various skills here in our district jail”, he narrated.
“The program has a huge impact to the lives of persons deprived of liberty here”, he said.
“What is even good news is that the program is being replicated in other district jails in Bataan, Zambales, and Pampanga”, he added.
“BPSU is targetting to do the Hope Behind Bar program in the entire Region 3, and this is through the leadership of Rodis”, Tauli said.
Earlier, BPSU Dean of College of Technology and program leader Dr. Bernadeth Gabor said, “Many of those in jail are hopeful that there will be life after detention. We need to accept and support them”.
She was one of the four honorees of 2017 “The Many Faces of the Teacher” national campaign, an initiative of Bato Balani Foundation and Diwa Learning Systems that pays homage to educators whose exceptional deeds transform students and communities because of the program.
Meanwhile, the Bataan District Jail was adjudged Red Orchid Hall of Fame awardee by the Department of Health.
“For 3 consecutive years, we are Red Orchid awardee from DOH that elevated us to Hall of Fame status”, said Bataan District Jail Warden Jail Superintendent Andrew Tauli.
“We received the award in a ceremony held at Royce Hotel Clark on January 15”, he said.
Red Orchid Award is the highest citation in the anti-smoking from DOH.
“We are very stringent here inside the jail not to allow the entry of cigarettes in our facility”, the jail warden pointed out.
“The Balanga city government is very strict in the anti-smoking drive. We are also doing the same here”, he added.
