Mayor David backs Limay Summer Chess Camp

Young chess players in Limay were trained and honed their skills during the 4-day Limay Summer Chess Camp held from May 11 to 14 at the Limay Elementary School Library highlighting the continued support of Mayor Richie David for grassroots sports development.

NCD Limay Chess Team Coach and Arena International Master Erickson Marimla served as the main trainer of the camp, while Bataan Peninsula State University chess team vanguard Angelica Maxine Omega acted as assistant trainer. They guided participants through various chess strategies and techniques.

Marimla said around 70 participants from different schools in Limay joined the summer camp, composed of both elementary and high school students.

The activity also received support from the newly appointed Limay Public Schools District Supervisor Jeolfa Reyes, who joined the awarding of certificates to participants at the culmination of the training program.

The chess camp was part of the continuing efforts of Limay LGU to promote sportsmanship, discipline, and intellectual development among the youth through chess.

Mayor Richie David continues to strengthen chess development in Limay with the staging of the 4th Mayor Richie Jason David Chess Tournament on May 23, 2026, at the Limay Park Multi-Purpose Hall.

The mayor vowed to further strengthen and expand chess initiatives in Limay as part of his sustained grassroots sports development program.
