Awarded coop development council, chaired by DAR officer

DINALUPIHAN, Bataan – The awarded Bataan Coop Development Council (BCDC) is chaired by Engr. Erickson Reyes, Agrarian Reform Program Officer I of the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) Bataan.

BCDC got the Best Performing Cooperative Development Council award (2nd Place), during the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) Gawad Parangal national level held at Pasay City on Friday. Zena Sugatain, Provincial Cooperative Development Officer, joined Reyes in accepting the award.

BCDC was the winner at the Gawad Parangal 2015 regional level making it an automatic nominee at the National Level Search of the CDA.

DAR Bataan is known for pitching in for the rapid cooperative development in the province. The only DAR entity in the country accredited by CDA to facilitate trainings for cooperatives, DAR Bataan is providing for free the 14 required trainings to agrarian reform cooperatives in the province. Agrarian reform cooperatives are those being assisted by DAR, and whose members are mostly agrarian reform beneficiaries.

San Luis earlier pointed out that that the cooperatives need to undergo all the trainings in accordance with Republic Act 9520 or the Philippine Cooperative Code of 2008, for them to get a Certificate of Good Standing. “Other accredited training providers for cooperatives are charging fees unlike us, we are providing these for free”, said San Luis.
