Museum of first Filipino printer to rise in Abucay

ABUCAY, Bataan – The “Limbagang Pinpin” (Pinpin’s Printing House) will soon rise in this municipality Barangay Capitangan.

Tomas Pinpin, the first Filipino printer, was a printer, writer and publisher from Barrio Mabatang in Abucay who was. He is also called as the “Prince of the Filipino Printers.”

Modern commercial arcade to rise in Abucay

ABUCAY, Bataan – A 66-stall Abucay Arcade is expected to rise in this 3rd-class municipality next year. Municipal Mayor Ana Santiago, in an interview last Tuesday, said it will be built in front of the Abucay Public Market located in Barangay Calaylayan.

PIA, DENR conduct Luzon-wide conference on climate change

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The Philippine Information Agency (PIA) in partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) will conduct a Luzon-wide conference spearheading a Climate Change Advocacy Campaign on August 13-14, 2014 at the Subic Bay Freeport Zone.

With its theme “Knowing the Hazards and Communicating Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation Measures”, the campaign that aims to promote public awareness will tap partners and other stakeholders in educating the people about climate change which is already beginning to transform life on earth globally.

Bataan PCWC gears for children’s month 2014

BALANGA CITY, Bataan — The Provincial Council for the Welfare of Children (PCWC) held a meeting at the Capitol compound Wednesday morning and discussed the various technical assistance programs it will provide to the 11 towns and one component city of this Province.

Marilyn Tigas, Chief of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office said that PCWC will lead an investment planning workshop in Orani town on August 7-8 and a synergy on child-friendly governance in Abucay on August 19-20.

Samal RPT collection rises

   SAMAL, Bataan – This fourth-class municipality now ranks third in the Province in terms of effective collections of real property taxes (RPT), Mayor Gene M. Dela Fuente reported.

   Dela Fuente added that this year they expect to collect more than P50 million in local taxes. Limay and Mariveles ranked first and second respectively.

Taiwanese firm set to open in Hermosa Ecozone

   HERMOSA, Bataan – Around 700 new jobs are set to be available inside the Hermosa Ecozone and Industrial Park (HEIP) when the Taiwanese firm, Biotech Medical opens early next year.

   To date, 36 employees from Bataan were already hired by Biotech and are currently undergoing an on-the-job training in Taiwan. After the training, around 250 first batch of employees will be hired and trained.
