Bataan beauty crowned Miss Philippines Earth Eco-Tourism 2014

   DINALUPIHAN, Bataan – A  former Bataan beauty queen who hails from this town, was crowned Miss Philippines Earth (MPE) Eco-Tourism 2014 last Sunday night at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

   Monique Teruelle Manuel, 25, said through her Facebook page, “Sa lahat ng mga taga-Dinalupihan at mga Bataenyo para po sa inyong lahat ito.”

50 women finish PSWDO livelihood course

   Balanga City — Fifty members of various women’s organizations in the province recently graduated from a livelihood training course conducted by the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office here. Mrs. Marilyn Tigas, Head of the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), told Headline Gitnang Luzon that the week-long livelihood training on basic cosmetology dubbed as “Ganda Mo, Hanapbuhay Ko” from April 21-25, 2014 was conducted at the PSWDO Conference Room.  Members of the Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina, Kabalikat and Pantawid ng Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) were among the participants of the training.

‘Community by the bay’ to rise in Samal

   SAMAL, Bataan — A new and modern village dubbed as “community by the bay” is set to rise soon in Barangay Tabing Ilog of this coastal town located along the western side of Manila Bay.

Bataan launches DOH’s “Alaga Ka” program

Dinalupihan, Bataan –The provincial government of Bataan launched Monday morning in Dinalupihan Civic Center the Department of Health’s (DOH) “Alaga Ka” program.

Bataan Governor Albert Garcia said the program aims to provide thousands of families with greater access to primary health services.

Bataan war museum needs artifacts

   BALANGA CITY, Bataan — The executive director of Bataan World War II Museum located near the Surrender Site Monument inside the compound of Balanga City Elementary School appealed for more donations of war artifacts.

   Mario Magat told newsmen here, Thursday afternoon, that at present, they still have a limited number of artifacts mostly donated by volunteers and some of their friends.

   “We appeal to all those people who have World War II memorabilia. You can donate it here in our museum,” Magat told local newsmen here.

Hermosa village to receive construction assistance from Japan

   PILAR, Bataan — Bataan Governor Albert Garcia today said that the perennially flooded barangay (village) in Hermosa town during rainy days will receive construction assistance from Japan. 

   During the 72nd Commemoration of Araw ng Kagitingan at Mt. Samat in this town, Garcia told local newsmen in an ambush interview, that he has signed an agreement with Japanese Ambassador Toshinao Urabe to start the reconstruction of facilities in the low-lying Barangay Almacen.

   Earlier, Governor Garcia also confirmed that a total of P2.4 billion was allocated by the national government to fund the flood control project in Bataan and nearby Lubao, Pampanga dubbed as Hermosa-Dinalupihan-Lubao Flood Control Project.

3 Bataan towns to serve as landing areas for hot air balloons

BALANGA CITY, Bataan — Three municipalities in this province will serve as landing areas in the upcoming Philippine International Balloon Festival 2014 on April 10 to 13 which will be staged in Barangay Prado Siongco, Lubao, Pampanga.

In his formal letter to Bataan Governor Albert S. Garcia, Hilario Castro Jr., the event chairman said, “It is expected that wind directions in April will bring all the balloons to the province of Bataan particularly in the Dinalupihan, Hermosa and Orani areas.”

Bagac gears for APEC Summit 2015

BAGAC, Bataan — A mini seaport with helipad is now under construction in this 3rd-class coastal town which will serve as host to the Bataan leg of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings scheduled on April 2015.

Mayor Ramil Del Rosario, in a press briefing at his Balanga City business office, said that Las Casas Filipinas de Acuzar, a world-class resort in Barangay Pagasa will be the venue of this world leaders summit participated by 19 countries which includes the Philippines, Australia, Brunei Darrusalam, Canada, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, the United States, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, China, Mexico, Papua New Guinea, Chile, Peru, Russia, and Vietnam.

Bataan bares 72nd Araw ng Kagitingan activities

 Pilar, Bataan — The Provincial Government of Bataan will lead the whole nation in the commemoration of the 72nd Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) on April 9, 2014 with this year’s theme: “Balik-Tanaw sa Sakripisyo ng Beterano, Gabay sa Landas ng Pagbabago” (Remembering the Veterans’ Sacrifices, Our Guide in Our Path Towards Change).

The annual event salutes the heroism and sacrifices of Filipino and American soldiers who fought the Japanese Imperial Army during the World War II particularly at the exact site of the battle in Mount Samat in Barangay Diwa, Pilar, Bataan known in history as the “Fall of Bataan.”

Sports organizer hails Bataan hosting of Challenge Philippines

 BALANGA CITY — Foreign and local athletes along with the organizers who visited Bataan for the Challenge Philippines (CP) 2014 triathlon last February 22 lauded Bataan officials in hosting this international sports event.

” We and the participants felt secured in stay and got the impression of a safe environment before and during the course of the momentous event,” CP race head coach Melvin Fusto said during yesterday’s triathlon evaluation meeting at the Bataan Tourism Center.
