P7 Billion RDF Plant to Rise in Orion town

 ORION, BATAAN- An ultra modern, environment-friendly power plant is expected to rise in this town soon.

This town’s local chief executive, Mayor Antonio ‘Tonypep’ Raymundo told Headline Gitnang Luzon in an exclusive interview that this waste to energy project will use a Korean technology called ”refuse derived fuel” (RDF) that will process 1,000 tons of unsegregated garbage per day and convert it into a fuel to produce electricity.

Thousands Flock to Bataan’s Pawikan Festival

MORONG, BATAAN- Thousands of local tourists and visitors gathered along the shoreline of Barangay Nagbalayong of this town for the two-day annual Pawikan Festival last weekend. 

The festival, hosted by the Bataan Tourism Council Foundation Inc. led by Mrs. Vicky Garcia, aims to protect the endangered marine turtles and help in the environmental conservation.

Mt. Samat pilgrimage for supertyphoon victims

BALANGA CITY — The Diocese of Balanga dedicates the pilgrimage to Mount Samat in Barangay Diwa, Pilar, Bataan on November 30 to the victims of earthquake and the recent typhoon Yolanda in the Visayan region, Bishop Ruperto Santos told local newsmen here the other day.

The pilgrimage is an annual event of the Diocese since 2004 to mark the First Sunday of Advent when more than 30,000 people walk their way seven kilometers from the foot of the famous mountain to the World War II monument, the Dambana ng Kagitingan (Shrine of Valor).

A giant war memorial white cross there that stands 90.4 meters is one of Bataan’s major tourist attractions that looks “as if swaying with the clouds.”

Mariveles Hall of Famer in Most Outstanding Child Friendly LGU Award

 BALANGA CITY- Mariveles town was recently awarded by the provincial government of Bataan as Hall of Famer in the Most Outstanding Child-Friendly Local Government Unit award. 

Mayor Jesse Concepcion received the award for the fourth time including the best in the regional and national levels in 2011.
