Bataan annually participates in ICC

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – The Provincial Government of Bataan is annually joining the global environmental activity International Coastal Cleanup (ICC), according to a top capitol official.

“Since the launching of ICC, Bataan has been participating yearly”, said Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources (PG ENRO) Head Engr. Vic Ubaldo.

ICC is the world’s largest volunteer effort for ocean’s health. Held every third Saturday of September of each year, thousands and thousands of volunteers from around the globe participate, clearing tons of trash from coastlines, rivers and lakes.

“All towns participated in the coastal cleanup as initiated by Gov. Abet Garcia”, said Ubaldo whose office was tasked as lead coordinator of the ICC in the province.

However, Mariveles conducted the coastal cleanup a week later due to inclement weather and power outage.

“Capitol departments are assigned to different towns. Volunteers also joined the coastal cleanup”, he added. “Environmental protection is a priority thrust of Gov. Abet Garcia”, said Ubaldo who was assigned at the coastline of Banawang, Bagac with other PG ENRO employees.
