CAPITOL GROUNDS – Athletes from different schools all over the province brought home 49 gold medals, 41 silver medals and 30 bronze medals for a total of 113 medals from the recently concluded 2017 Central Luzon Regional Athletic Association (CLRAA) Meet held at the Bulacan Sports Complex, in Malolos City last February 5.
In the over-all standing, Bataan once again placed second, the first slot being occupied by host province Bulacan, with 234 medals. It would be interesting to note that this is our province’s 4th consecutive winning streak in CLRAA.
In his congratulatory message to the athletes, trainors and coaches, during this morning’s flag raising ceremony, Gov. Abet Garcia vowed to continue giving them his all-out support and at the same time posed them a challenge – to finally get the top spot in the over-all ranking.
In an exclusive interview with Mr. Ramon Perez, School Governance Operations Division Chief, DepEd Bataan and In-Charge of Sports, he said our athletes dominated in events such as: Table Tennis, Wushu, Boxing, Chess, Swimming, Taekwondo, Football, Gymnastics and Tennis.
“Our athletes’ performance in Arnis has been consistently remarkable for the past four years, but this year, their performances in Archery and Volleyball were remarkably outstanding”, Perez happily added.
When asked on the chances of Bataan finally getting the coveted first slot next year, the hardworking, low keyed seasoned mentor gave a sheepish smile, as he said, “we will do our best, as we always do”.
It seems that it will be “1Bataan” in next year’s meet!
