In support of Governor Joet Garcia‘s advocacy towards a Tobacco-Free Generation and to stop the cycle of replacement smokers, the Provincial Government of Bataan, through its 1Bataan Health Promotion Board, celebrated World No-Tobacco Day yesterday, May 31, at Tucop Integrated School (TIS) in Dinalupihan.
“Huwag na po nating isipin pa ang paggamit ng tobacco. Hawak po ninyo sa inyong kamay ang inyong kinabukasan. Piliin po natin ang ating kalusugan,” said Dinalupihan Medical Officer Dra. Kyre Janne Ladao during the event. Dinalupihan Trained Peer Facilitators led the exercise for the celebration, which was followed by spoken word poetry and the oath of alliance for the TFG advocacy.
“Ang gusto natin para sa mga Bataeño ay malusog at mahabang buhay. Pero kaakibat nito, kinakailangan na inaalagaan natin ang ating katawan at ang ating kalusugan,” Governor Joet Garcia said in his message, emphasizing that the Healthy Paaralan program and the Tobacco-Free Generation advocacies go hand-in-hand to achieve the goal of a long and healthy life for Bataeños.
TIS Principal Jocelyn Reyes, MHO Dra. Lahaina Bulaong, Dra. Cecille Francisco, PHO Catherine Pelaez, and TIS students joined the celebration.
