Bataan continues to uplift the social welfare of PWDs

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – More persons with disabilities (PWDs) in Bataan will be given priority in social services as the province strives to maintain a friendly community for them.
During the provincial celebration of the 40th National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation (NDPR) Week, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office Head Marilyn Tigas vowed to continue empowering and uplifting the social welfare of every PWD in the province.
“We will continue to help our PWDs by strengthening their skills and abilities which they can use to further improve their quality of life,” Tigas said.
In front of hundreds of participating PWDs, Tigas cited the accomplishments of their office in uplifting their social welfare.
“For two consecutive years, Bataan has been awarded as the most PWD-friendly province in Central Luzon,” she added.
Also, the Samahan ng Taong May Kapansanan sa Bataan (SATAMAKABA) was recognized in 2017 by the Department of Social Welfare and Development as Best People’s Organization at the national level.
“Through the initiatives of Governor Albert Garcia, we will continue to provide more programs for your welfare because services for PWDs is one of our top priorities,” Tigas emphasized.
The Provincial Government of Bataan in partnership with the Provincial Council on Disability Affairs and SATAMAKABA organized the event which aims to engage PWDs in activities such as product exhibit, singing contest, orientation and forum.
This year’s NDPR Week carries the theme “Kakayahan at Kasanayan para sa Kabuhayan Tungo sa Kaunlaran.
