Bataan expressway development, a showcase of economic progress

BALANGA CITY, Bataan –  A female corporate lawyer of a manufacturing conglomerate in Mandaluyong City, Metro Manila has projected the brisk  urbanization of the Bataan Expressway is unquestionably a  viable showcase of economic prosperity of the historical Bataan peninsula.

Lawyer Cheryl Laine Miranda, legal officer of Concepcion Industries, is looking forward to the thriving economic activities along the stretch of Roman Expressway with a respectable number of big enterprises, highly motivated by the outstanding performance of Bataan Governor Albert Raymond S. Garcia in formulating strategic socio-economic agenda.

Expecting a healthy economic trend of the 55 kilometer Roman Expressway in comparison with the Epifanio delos Santos Avenue (EDSA) traversing the five metropolitan cities of Caloocan, Quezon, Mandaluyong, Makati and Pasay which are highly-regarded as the business and trading centers of Metro Manila maybe achieved in a few years with the completion of the proposed multi-billion dollar Bataan-Corregidor- Naic, Cavite toll way road, the young lawyer said.

The expansion of the province’s main thoroughfare into six-lane road network, installation of CCTV and street lighting facilities and other safety devices, creation of transport terminal, hotels and restaurants and other healthy amenities would further motivate the entry of local and foreign investors.

Atty. Miranda sees these latest developments as valid indication of the implementation of valuable economic fundamentals along with the plans to augment infrastructure spending that pushed Bataan to the top list of best provinces as investment hub in Central Luzon.

The strategic location of the province in the vicinity of the two premier freeport zones in the country, Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) and Clark Ecozone, with profitable manufacturing plants operational in numerous industrial growth areas in Bataan are big factors which make the historic peninsula an ideal place for locators, Lawyer Miranda added.

The national government program of bringing the development to the countryside through the relocation of their industrial manufacturing firms is another locally beneficial upshot with Bataan having sufficient power, communication, depot and terminal facilities and technically and highly professional  manpower.
