BALANGA CITY, Bataan – In observance of the National Environment Month, the Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office (PGENRO) conducted the first ever Bataan Environment Summit today, June 28 until tomorrow.

Anchored on the theme: “Beat Plastic Pollution! If you can’t reuse it, refuse it,” this summit aims to impart responsible use of plastics to the youth and intensify the advocacy on environmental management in partnership with the Department of Education, Department of Environment and Natural Resources, and private sectors.

Meanwhile, PGENRO Head Victor Ubaldo said that this idea of pushing for such cause was derived from the Coastal Environment Summit held last year at Subic where students from Bataan National High School were invited.

He also acknowledged the support of private sectors in sharing 2/3 of the cost for this environment summit.

The on-going forum at the Bataan People’s Center is attended by select high school students from all over the province. This comprises lectures on solid waste, air pollution, water pollution, and coastal management.

Series of lectures will continue tomorrow for another batch of students alongside contests such as quiz show, poster making, and mural painting.
