BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Mango farmers participating in the science and technology community-based farming in the province held a Farmers’ Field Day and Harvest Festival showcasing the increase in production brought by technology intervention.
The field day was recently conducted in four mango farms respectively within two weeks. These are the farms of Vice Mayor Dr. Renato Matawaran in Dinalupihan; Manuel Joves in Orani; Raul Dela Rosa in Samal; and Cezar Banzon in Orion.
Cooperating farmers expressed satisfaction over the good outcome in their farms under the project.
“I am quite hesitant at first to join the project, and now I can say I am glad I did”, disclosed Matawaran, seeing the good yield in his farm.
“Thank you very much to BPSU and CHED for this project”, Dela Rosa said.
“Adopting proper technology, mango farms will be productive”, said BPSU Research Development Director and Project Leader Dr. Hermogenes Paguia.
The project “Sustainable Mango Production through Science and Technology Innovations and Support Mechanisms for Capacity Development in Central Luzon” is being implemented by BPSU and funded by CHED under its Discovery-Applied Research and Extension for Trans/Inter-disciplinary Opportunities (DARE TO) Research Grant.
