Bataan Mayors’ League prexy urges stricter traffic laws

DINALUPIHAN, Bataan – Mayor Maria Angela S. Garcia of this town and concurrent president of the Bataan Mayors’ League has urged traffic enforcement agencies to undertake comprehensive preventive measures to minimize accidents in major road networks.

Mayor Garcia stressed the importance of continuous extensive information campaign for safe driving after receiving reports of the worst traffic incident in her second term as local executive where three persons perished and 18 others were seriously injured when a -14 wheeler cargo truck collided with a passenger jeepney in Jose Abad Santos Avenue (JASA), Barangay Luacan, this town  last Friday.

Ms. Garcia said it is the appropriate time to take a unified stand in the prevention of road accidents.

The lady mayor explained the necessity of installing more sophisticated closed circuit televisions along the stretch of JASA, putting up more traffic warning signs in strategic sections, regular conduct of traffic rules and regulations seminar-workshops for motorists and public vehicle operators and other relevant safety features for the public convenience and welfare.

She added constant review and regular assessment of traffic situations in the province’s crucial road routes and enforcement of effective accident prevention measures that highlight the speed of vehicles and road condition.
