Bataan, on its way to organic agriculture

BALANGA CITY, Bataan – Aligned with the province of Bataan’s vision, the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) conducted a technical briefing orientation about the Organic Agriculture Program yesterday, May 24, 2017, at the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist – Farmers Information Technology Services (OPA-FITS), Capitol compound, this City.

The Department of Agriculture is the agency mandated to lead in the implementation of the Organic Agriculture as provided by Republic Act 10068. The DA-RFO has been implementing programs/projects/activities geared towards the implementation, promotion, and further development of organic agriculture in Central Luzon.

Engr. Johanna Dizon delivered the welcome remarks, Ms. Luisa Rodis presented the Republic Act 10068 (Organic Agriculture Act of 2010) Implementing Rules and Regulations, Mr. Ronald Angat of DA-RFO III discussed the Philippine National Standards, while former BM Gaudencio Ferrer, a certified agriculturist himself, gave an inspirational message and brief background about organic agriculture. Meanwhile, Mr. Jeffrey Garrido of BAFS explained the Quality Assurance System for organic agriculture. Also present were representatives of the different LGUs and other agricultural organizations in Bataan.
